DE/AT 2016, 70 min, OdF, Director: Sandra Wollner

The Impossible Picture by Sandra Wollner tells the story of 13-year-old Johanna, who grows up in post-war Vienna. The film provides intimate insights into the everyday life and secrets of a seemingly ordinary family, playing with the boundaries between memory, fantasy and reality.

On November 29, 1973, the abortion law was introduced in Austria. 50 years later, access to abortion is still difficult, costly and stigmatizing. But instead of finally implementing appropriate medical care, attacks are also on the rise in Austria. Tyrol and Salzburg want to collect data on abortions and in Vorarlberg the only (!) doctor in this field is planning to retire without a clear succession plan. The logical consequence of carrying out abortions in hospitals from now on is currently being blocked by anti-abortionists and conservative forces.
