We have already reported on the Feminist Radio Days that took place in Zurich in 52 radio minutes. In the current issue, we are broadcasting short recordings from one of the numerous workshops that took place at Claim the Waves in July 2018.
Bianca Miglioretto, feminist radio course leader at Radio LoRa in Zurich from Switzerland, led the workshop "Journalistic interview as a political weapon" as part of this event. The main question was - How do we use the interview to act politically?

It was 100 years ago that women were first allowed to study engineering in Austria, reports dieStandard.at. Other courses of study were open to them earlier - for example, from 1896 they were able to enrol at philosophy faculties and from 1900 at the medical faculty and to study pharmacy. As technical degree courses took longer to complete, socially (un)accepted job profiles contributed to this, according to Juliane Mikoletzky, University Archivist at the Vienna University of Technology (TU).
The Man Booker Prize is awarded annually to the "best" novel in the English language and is published in the UK. This year, there are 5 women on the shortlist from a total of 6 authors and all-female translators.
The joy is great, as in 2016, for example, only 29% of all books translated into English in the last ten years were originally written by women, according to a survey by the University of Rochester. Female authors were thus systematically underrepresented in translation.

From April 25 to 30, the Crossing Europe Film Festival awaits its guests in Linz once again this year. In addition to many highlights, the Local Artists Special section will present works by Linz-based artist and director Edith Stauber
On May 9, 2019, the exhibition opening 100 years of women's suffrage - "They mean it politically" will take place at 6 pm. This traveling exhibition will be opened in the foyer of the Altes Rathaus on Hauptplatz in Linz. There will also be a reading - the authors and editors Bettina Balàka, Marlene Gölz, Eva Schörkhuber and Petra Sturm will read from their publication "WARUM FEIERN - Beiträge zu 100 Jahren Frauenwahlrecht".
