Protest lab for International Women's Day
Number: 505.001

This course offers students the opportunity to take an in-depth look at the history, developments, symbols, strategies and artistic movements in the context of International Women's Day. Through a holistic approach that includes both theoretical and practical aspects, the aim is to impart in-depth knowledge of feminist protests and the associated culture of resistance. A central aim is to offer students the opportunity to develop their own artistic works within the framework of this topic. These works will have the chance to be presented to the public on March 8, 2024.

Presenters: Oona Valarie Serbest, Rebekka Hochreiter

On November 29, 1973, the abortion law was introduced in Austria. 50 years later, access to abortion is still difficult, costly and stigmatizing. But instead of finally implementing appropriate medical care, attacks are also on the rise in Austria. Tyrol and Salzburg want to collect data on abortions and in Vorarlberg the only (!) doctor in this field is planning to retire without a clear succession plan. The logical consequence of carrying out abortions in hospitals from now on is currently being blocked by anti-abortionists and conservative forces.
