DJ İpek İpekçioğlu is an internationally renowned, multi-award-winning Berlin DJ, editor, producer and freelance author. As a pioneer of Orient & Asian music, she already influenced the multi-layered Berlin club scene in the 90s. Her eclectic music and characteristic mixes became the basis for a new style that began twelve years ago in the city's club scene. Since then, İpek has developed into an exclusive Berlin export hit with her "Eklektik BerlinIstan". Her stage charisma and fusion sounds bring ecstasy to audiences everywhere: New York, the deserts of Mali, Salvador de Bahia, Stockholm, Istanbul, Glasgow, Cairo and Shanghai. There is no doubt that She-J İpek İpekçioğlu, a queer woman of Turkish origin, has made a name for herself in the heterogeneous international club scene. In Sweden, she was voted the hippest DJ in Europe by the queer magazine QX. Another international award was 1st place at the World Beat DJ Competition in London.

DJ İpek was a guest at Ann and Pat in Linz from December 4 to 6, 2014 for a DJ workshop.

According to a resolution passed by the Senate of the University of Magdeburg on October 8, 2014, the professorship "History of Modern Times and Gender Studies" is not to be filled again after the current chair holder leaves. This is also problematic because it is the only professorship with a clear denomination for gender studies, not only at the University of Magdeburg, but at all universities and universities of applied sciences in the state. Especially at the University of Magdeburg, a permanent institutionalized gender research seems to be essential, as the proportion of women in professorships is only 12 percent in a nationwide comparison. The professorship for gender studies at the University of Magdeburg must stay!
